Description:
Hoops for Hope is an educational alternative spring break service project for all youth attending the five Pittsburgh Public PYLA schools (Brashear, Carrick, Langley, Oliver, Peabody). Using sport for a vehicle for social change, this event will empower youth participants to productive adults, engage in healthy lifestyles, and become leaders in their community. The event will unite adults, college students, and teenage youth from different communities and backgrounds while participating in a healthy competitive sport and 5 on-site service learning projects.
Volunteers will be responsible for chaperoning the youth, manning the concession area, assisting with crowd control,and event set-up/tear down.
