PITTSBURGH CARES: Volunteering Made Easy!
Interfaith Volunteer Caregivers of SWPA
Description:

Interfaith Volunteer Caregivers (IVC) of Southwestern PA, a Faith in Action program that is part of Family Services of Western Pennsylvania, serves greater Pittsburgh's aging population. The mission of IVC is to maximize the independence and overcome the isolation of the frail elderly in Allegheny County.

IVC recruits volunteers from the community at large and through its network of 48 diverse religious congregations throughout Allegheny County. Volunteers provide critical in-home, non-medical services that assist frail seniors with the tasks of daily living. IVC recruits, trains, mobilizes and supports these volunteers and enables frail older adults to remain independent in their own homes. Currently, 450+ volunteers are active in the IVC program, providing service to nearly 1,000 older adults each year.
